It is noon, 6 March 1944, 21,000 feet over Haseleunne, Germany, as Messerschmitt Bf 109G’s make head on attacks on American bomber formations. On this date, US losses would total 69 bombers and eleven fighters, while the Luftwaffe would loose 68 aircraft. For the 100th Bomb Group it was the worst single day losses of the war. The worst day for American Bomber forces, was yet to come.
